Boston Police report arresting a man they say broke into the 7-Eleven on West Broadway near Dorchester Street early this morning and stole 89 packs of Newports and rifled through the scratch tickets.
Police say officer responding to an alarm shortly after 2 a.m. found a "large granite block" that had been used to smash the front door, along with shelves cleared of Newports and "disheveled" scratch-ticket racks.
Not long after, police say, they found Patrick Keane, 57, nearby, behind 57 G St., with the cigarettes, a bag full of screw drivers, a hammer and other tools.
Keane was charged with breaking and entering, destruction of property, larceny over $250, possession of drug paraphernalia and, of course, possession of burglarious tools.
