The Boston Licensing Board next week considers a proposal for a dueling-piano bar in the new Element Seaport Boston Hotel at 391 D St., across from the Lawn on D.
D's Keys Dueling Pianos, fronted by veteran dueling pianist Matt Nichols, needs the board's permission to buy the liquor license of the defunct Ames Plow Tavern in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. In addition to a main room, D's Keys would also have an outdoor patio in nice weather.
Nichols has pounded the keyboard at what is currently Boston's only dueling-piano bar, Howl at the Moon, as well as in Providence and other locations across the country.
Boston is still awaiting its first dueling-banjos bar.
