Boston Police report arresting a man and seizing a loaded assault rifle early this morning at 9 Orton Marotta Way.
Police say they learned around 9:15 p.m. that Stephen Gingras, 39, of Manchester, NH, wanted for robbing a bank in Salem, NH last week, might be holed up there.
Officers confirmed that the suspect was inside and moved in to place him in custody. As the SWAT Team made entry, the suspect attempted to jump out of a second story window, then retreated inside and barricaded himself.
Police say several hours of negotiation failed and around 2:40 a.m., the SWAT team forced their way into the apartment and arrested Gingras and seized a fully loaded "Century Arms Inc rifle with a large capacity magazine."
In addition to the New Hampshire charges, Gingras now faces Boston charges of being a fugitive from justice, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
Innocent, etc.
