Conley's statement on Alemany indictments | 6.18 KB |
Authorities today announced the indictment of Edwin Alemany for the murder of South Boston resident Amy Lord and attacks on three other women - two within 24 hours of Lord's death.
Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said at a noon press conference that evidence shows that early on July 23, Alemany attacked a 22-year-old woman walking along Old Colony Avenue in South Boston, dragged her into a parking lot by her legs and said he was going to kill her. Instead, he left, but later showed up at Lord's Dorchester Street apartment around 6 a.m., kidnapped her, beat her, drove her around South Boston and Dorchester in her own Jeep, then drove her to Stony Brook Reservation, where he killed her, Conley said, adding he then drove the Jeep back to South Boston and set it on fire around 8:30 a.m.
Some 18 hours later, Conley said, he attacked another young woman on Gate Street, grabbing her from behind and stabbing her repeatedly. Neighbors called 911 and he fled - but then showed up at Tufts Medical Center for a bad knife wound to his right hand that he'd given himself. That was where his victim was brought. She gave a description of her attacker, then "paramedics spotted Alemany, recognized that description, and notified Boston Police," Conley said.
Conley continued Alemany is also charged with attacking a woman on Sept. 28, 2012 on Parker Hill Avenue on Mission Hill. He choked her but she was able to grab his wallet before she lost consciousness, Conley said. This case led to a detective being demoted for failing to follow up on the evidence in the wallet.
Innocent, etc.
