Adam Castiglioni watched a wicked big container ship pull into the Conley Terminal in South Boston this morning.
Julie Slootbeek alerts us it's the Ever Fortune, a two-year-old, 1,095-foot long ship flying under the Hong Kong flag that came through the Panama Canal on New Year's then stopped at Savannah, GA before arriving here.
Associated Press reports it's the biggest container ship to dock in Boston.
And, yes, it's owned by the same company with the ship that blocked the Suez Canal, but that ship is too large to come into Boston Harbor (it has a draft of more than 47 feet; the newly dredged channel in the harbor is 40 feet).
CARGO IS SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON and we are BIG SHIP READY for today’s arrival of the Ever Fortune! This 12,000 TEU vessel is the largest ever to call Conley Container Terminal! (1of3) pic.twitter.com/24eZeBptyr
