A Suffolk County grand jury this week indicted Ryan Denver of the Seaport on manslaughter and related charges for a crash in July that killed Jeanica Julce, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Denver, 38, was formally charged with involuntary manslaughter, three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the death of Julce, 27, of Somerville, and injuries caused to other passengers, in a crash on July 17. Denver is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 19.

According to the DA's office:

Mr. Denver owned a Pursuit DC 365 speedboat which he named “Make it Go Away” and was operating the 37-foot-long 17,000-pound vessel in Boston Harbor in the early morning hours of July 17, 2021. At approximately 2:50 a.m., it struck Daymarker 5, a large distinctively marked fixed navigational aid, head-on with such destructive force that the boat sank, sending all eight individuals on board - including Ms. Julce and Mr. Denver - into the harbor.

Daymarker 5 is located between Castle Island and Spectacle Island.

Rescuers from the Coast Guard, State Police, Boston Fire, Massport, Boston EMS and state Environmental Police responded and pulled seven people to safety - five with injuries serious enough to require hospitalization. Julce's body was found several hours later.

Innocent, etc.
