The Boston Fire Department reports a fire that erupted early this morning on Columbia Road at Douglas Street damaged seven triple deckers and sent five firefighters to the hospital.
Some 38 residents were displaced by the fire, which caused an estimated $10 million in damage.
The department reports firefighters responded t 3:30 a.m. to 1428 Columbia Rd. to find several buildings already ablaze, filling the neighborhood with thick smoke. Fire burst through roofs; firefighters began concentrating on protecting surrounding homes from damage.
