A Suffolk Superior Court judge yesterday found Asim Kieta, 45, guilty of detonating an improvised explosive device that injured three police officers outside the C-6 police station in South Boston in 2017 and then sentenced him to 15 to 18 years in prison, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Kieta, who agreed to a trial before Judge Jeffrey Locke, rather than a jury, built an IED that detonated in two stages next to a parked cruiser on Jan. 20, 2017.
The second stage injured the officers during the morning rush hour. All three have since recovered, the DA's office reports.
