Driver dies after going through red light and jamming SUV under tractor trailer in South Boston, police say

State Police report a man exiting the turnpike to get onto the Haul Road in South Boston this morning failed to stop for a red light and " struck a tractor trailer entering the intersection of Bypass and Haul Roads."

The driver of the 2015 Nissan Rogue, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Tufts Medical Center after the 7:08 a.m. crash, where he died, State Police say.

The crash, including the reason the driver went through the red light, remains under investigation, State Police say.
