Boston Police report arresting two men they say went up I Street yesterday stealing packages, then turned onto East 2 Street to rip open their booty.
Police say officers - aided by an off-duty officer who spotted the two - found Nicholas Bennett, 26, and Kevin Berry, 31, both of South Boston, holding unopened packages in front of 555 East 2 St. around 4:10 p.m.
Officers could clearly see one of the packages was addressed to a female, and when asked how the suspects knew the female, Berry told the officers he found the package in the snow. Upon further investigation, officers observed several torn packages only a few feet away from both suspects. All packages were addressed to various locations along I street, and none of which was addressed to the suspects.
Officers were able to recover several stolen packages containing various items, including electronics and clothing worth than more than $1,000.00.
Both were charged with five counts of larceny from a building, two counts of receiving stolen property over $250 and three counts of receiving stolen property less than $250, police say.
Innocent, etc.
